Honoring our Veterans

For nearly two decades I photographed the annual Memorial weekend service at Oakwood Cemetery.    It has always been one of my favorite  events because the Lansingburgh Veterans, working with the Boy Scouts,  plant flags next to the grave sites of veterans.  This year I went not to photograph, but to assist and I was honored they welcomed my help.  It  is a fitting tribute and is exactly what Memorial  Day should  be about.  Thank you to the veterans  and the scouts who do this.  They should  feel very proud of their efforts.

Don't move city hall to the Dauchy building!

Below is a link to a letter to the Troy Record published Tuesday May 31 in which I explain why it would be a mistake to put city hall in the Dauchy Building.
The letter has drawn some comments.  I know I am not a real estate tycoon, but then there are none currently on the council either. I also realize the properties I mentioned receive property tax breaks from a PILOT program. They still are paying property taxes however the full amount is phased in, usually over 20 years, but sales tax revenue is not effected.

It's time to stop fixing blame, and start fixing problems

The purpose of this site is to share my ideas and to listen to the concerns of Troy residents.  After more then 31 years covering the city as a photojournalist, I am very excited about the future of our city.
The constant partisan bickering of the recent past must subside!  The interests of the people must be more important than partisan politics.
The residents should be proud of their city council. I intend to listen to people who are willing to share their ideas.
